Concrete and Masonry Structures
Chair: Julio Ramirez
Purpose:
To evaluate and correlate theory and research data bearing on the design and construction of structures of reinforced concrete or masonry, especially where related to structures in service, and to report conclusions and recommendations, including the initiation of further research.
- Concrete Shell Design and Construction (Joint with ACI 334)
Chair: Christopher Zweifel
Purpose:
To review, correlate and develop information and promote research on concrete shells and folded plates; to continue development of recommended practice for the analysis, design and construction of concrete shell structures.
Design of Reinforced Concrete Slabs (Joint with ACI 421)
Chair: Mahmoud Kamara
Purpose:
To study problems related to the analysis and design of building and bridge slabs.
Development and Splicing of Deformed Bars (Joint with ACI 408)
Chair: Adolfo Matamoros
Purpose:
To develop and report information on bond, development, and splicing of deformed bars, and anchorage of headed bars.
Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures (Joint with ACI 447)
Chair: Laura Lowes
Purpose:
To review, correlate and develop information and to promote research on the finite element analysis of reinforced concrete and masonry structures; to study proposed analytical models, theories, and experimental data so as to make appropriate recommendations for their application in design.
Fracture Mechanics of Concrete (Joint with ACI 446)
Chair: Walter Gerstle
Purpose:
To develop and report information on the application of fracture mechanics to concrete structures.
Joints and Connections in Monolithic Concrete Structures (Joint with ACI 352)
Chair: James La Fave
Purpose:
To study the detail design of joints and connections in monolithic concrete members and develop practical aids for the designer and/or constructor.
Precast Structural Concrete (Joint ACI 550)
Chair: Thomas D'Arcy
Purpose:
Study and report on the design and construction of precast concrete structures.
Prestressed Concrete (Joint with ACI 423)
Chair: Andrea Schokker
Purpose:
To continuously evaluate the technical status of prestressed concrete and to recommend to the joint sponsors the formation of any needed technical committees or subcommittees for the study of particular developments, innovations, or problems arising in this field. To publish information and to develop tentative recommendations or recommended practices which incorporate new procedures or correct existing deficiencies; and to study significant research problems and make recommendations.
Reinforced Concrete Columns (Joint with ACI 441)
Chair: Nadim Wehbe
Purpose:
To review and correlate information on the analysis and design of concrete columns including the methods required by various building codes. To suggest, promote, or sponsor experimental research to expand the knowledge of column behavior. To utilize the information thus developed to propose such design provisions of columns as appear desirable.
Shear and Torsion (Joint with ACI 445)
Chair: Daniel Kuchma
Purpose:
To encourage, guide and correlate research and development work regarding structural concrete members subjected to shear, including effects of flexure, axial loads and prestressing forces acting in combination with shear. To recommend such improvements in design procedures as may be called for by progress and research in engineering practice.
