Dynamic Effects
Chair: Sashi Kunnath
Purpose:
To study and evaluate the magnitude of dynamic forces and their effect upon the behavior of structures.
Seismic Effects (website)
Chair: Rakesh Goel
Purpose:
To foster research and practice in the behavior of structures subjected to earthquakes and application of research results to problems in analysis and design of structures, including buildings, offshore structures, concrete dams, storage tanks, and bridges.
Emerging Analysis Methods in Earthquake Engineering
Chair: Kevin Mackie
Purpose:
To further the advancement and transfer of knowledge in emerging analysis methods in earthquake engineering.Experimental Methods in Earthquake Engineering
Chair: Bassem AndrawesPurpose:
To further the advancement and transfer of knowledge in the performance of structures and structural systems through experimental testing methods.
Multi-Hazard Mitigation
Chair: Jamie PadgettPurpose:
To advance the field of multi-hazard engineering and risk mitigation for civil structures, with a particular emphasis on earthquake, wind, wave, and tsunami hazards, by quantifying the effects of multiple hazards on structural performance, identifying multi-hazard design and analysis methods, and formulating approaches for multi-hazard risk assessment and mitigation.
Blast, Shock & Impact (website)
Chair: Shalva Marjanishvili
Purpose:
To study and evaluate the magnitude and effects of shock and impulsive loadings (other than wind or seismic) on structures and their components, and to formulate design criteria and methods to provide adequate resistance or relief from their effects.
Structural Dynamics
Chair: Oren Lavan
Purpose:
To foster research and practice related to the behavior of civil structures subjected to general dynamic loadings (other than earthquakes, winds, and blast). These include vechicles, trains, pedestrians, industrial work, other ambient loadings, and combinations of multiple loadings simultaneously.
