Performance of Structures
Purpose:
To improve the performance of structures by advancing engineering knowledge and practice through stimulating and guiding research in analysis, monitoring, testing and other activities, and to disseminate information and recommendations.
-
Performance of Structures During Construction
Purpose:
To better understand and to improve structural behavior, integrity, safety and cost effectiveness of structures during their construction, as well as of temporary structures used in construction operations.
Performance of Full-Scale Structures
Purpose:
To monitor the performance of completed structures, and thus to identify areas for improvement by directing attention to specific areas of professional practice and by identifying materials, practices and procedures within the influence of the structural engineer which are not providing their expected range of performance, whether with regard to strength, durability, or other serviceability criteria.
Subcommittee on Performance of Bridges
Purpose:
To report on the performance of bridges under all conditions including earthquakes, wind and corrosion, and fatigue.
Methods of Monitoring Structural Performance
Purpose:
To identify methods and technologies for measuring structural response, deterioration and existing condition that are useful in the physical evaluation of structural performance and to disseminate information of such techniques.
Performance-Based Design and Evaluation of Civil Engineering Facilities
Purpose:
Facilitating the development and adoption of realistic, effective, comprehensive and reliable performance-based design and evaluation techniques and procedures for civil engineering facilities. Helping to establish the foundations for specifications, model codes and commentaries for performance-based design and evaluation.
